The Seefeld Eucharistic Miracle

Seefeld, in the heart of Olympia-Region, was inhabited since the way back of monks and peasants, gained great popularity from 1384, the year of the famous Seefeld Eucharistic Miracle. According to the religious belief, during a Mass at the parish church in Seefeld, a violent knight named Oswald Milsner approached the priest on the high altar demanding the largest host for himself. The scared religious man gave to Oswald the host and as soon as he had it on his mouth, the ground opened as if it wanted to swallow the knight and when he tried to cling to the altar, the stone turned soft as wax so his fingertips are still impressed in the altar today. Only when the priest removed the host from his mouth, the ground turned solid again. After this rare event, Seefeld, in the center of Olympia-Region, became a miracle-seekers and pilgrims destination and the miraculous host was guarded in a reliquary until its loss in 1919.
